Ticket Types and Visas

Ticket Information

  • Your student ticket to graduate is free-of-charge.
  • Guest tickets for all ceremonies are priced at £25 per person.
  • You will be able to book two guest tickets initially and indicate whether you would be interested in purchasing extra tickets, should they become available (see Extra Guest Tickets section below for more information).
  • You will require your Student ID number (9 digit number printed on your student ID card) in order to book tickets. If you are purchasing guest tickets, you will also require a Credit/Debit card to make payment.
  • Students joining the waiting list are no longer guaranteed two guest tickets. 
  • All tickets are served on a first-come-first served basis.
  • Tickets for all ceremonies are subject to availability. Queen Mary University of London reserves the right to withdraw tickets from sale before the booking deadline, if necessary. You are strongly advised to book as early as possible.
  • Tickets will not be sent to you in advance - you will collect your tickets on the day of the ceremony when you arrive at the Mile End Campus. The location of the ticket collection desk will be confirmed at a later date.

What your ticket includes

  • Entry to the Graduation Ceremony in the Great Hall at Mile End.
  • A souvenir ceremony programme for each ticket-holder.
  • Entry to the reception held after the ceremony where drinks and food are served.
  • Food and refreshment vouchers

Students need to book a place regardless of having sat exams or received results. Although we endeavour to contact all eligible students via email with booking information, we cannot guarantee this as there a number of reasons as to why an email may not reach you. All information sent via email will be replicated our website so please use this to obtain the most up to date information. Children Under 5

Please note that ceremonies are not suitable for children under the age of five and they will not be allowed the Great Hall. Adults accompanying young children can watch the ceremony in the Live Relay Theatre on a big screen. If you wish to watch the ceremony on the screen then these tickets can be bought when making the original booking or on the day of ceremonies.

Live Relay Tickets

For those guests that we cannot fit into the great hall, we offer tickets to watch the ceremony live on a screen in a nearby theatre. Live relay tickets are available at the reduced price of £5 and allows entry for ONE adult plus up to two children 15 or under years of age.

These tickets are available for purchase when you book your tickets online and also on the day at the Information Point. Ticket price includes entry to the live relay theatre, a bespoke programme, and a drink voucher for the reception (non-alcoholic and alcoholic options available). 

Extra Guest Tickets

Each student is offered the chance to purchase two guest tickets initially, if they book before the deadline. Guest tickets are £25 each. When making a booking, you will also be able to indicate a requirement for more guest tickets which will be logged against your booking. If there are any additional guest tickets available after the booking deadline then students will be offered a fair opportunity to purchase these. All students who have booked tickets through Your Graduation will receive an email from The Events and Ceremonies Team with an update on extra ticket availability for advance and on the day sales.

All on the day sales will be limited and sold on a first-come-first-served basis, at the information point in the People's Palace. ou will need cash for this transaction.

Please note, students who join the waiting list after the booking deadline will not be entitled to two guest tickets initially but they may request extra guest tickets when joining the waiting list. Guests without purchased tickets are welcome to join the student in the reception. 

Due to the volume of enquiries we receive at this stage, we are not able to respond to any calls or emails we receive regarding extra tickets. 

Extra tickets are not guaranteed and you should not make travel arrangements for guests who do not have confirmed ceremony tickets. Queen Mary University of London will not reimburse any money you spend on travel, accommodation or other costs associated with guests who are subsequently not able to attend due to lack of extra tickets.

Visa Applications

If you need to apply for immigration permission to re-enter the UK for your own graduation ceremony then please follow the advice laid out here by Queen Mary Advice and Counselling.

If you or your family/friends require Standard Visitor immigration permission to attend your graduation ceremony, you can use, or provide guests with, the following documents as evidence of your ceremony:

  • Your order confirmation from Your Graduation
  • Student Status letterPlease see the link for advice on how to produce a student status letter. 
  • A copy of your results
  • An invitation letter from you. Please see the link for advice on how to produce an invitation letter.

Queen Mary University of London accepts no responsibility for rejected visa applications but will be able to offer refunds for tickets of guests if relevant evidence is provided before the day of the ceremony.
