Community garden

In 2016, QMUL opened the Green Mary Garden and Allotment site. The garden was created to enhance the biodiversity of QMUL's Mile End campus, provide a new and enhanced location for the allotments, and foster links with community groups and schools. The Green Mary Garden is located behind Beaumont Court at Mile End campus.

The QMUL Allotment Group

The QMUL Green Mary Garden allotment site provides QMUL staff and students with an opportunity to grow vegetables, fruit and herbs on campus. In order to maximise the number of people who can access this fantastic resource, plots have been allocated to allotment teams. The site is fully DDA compliant, with beds raised to roughly waist height.

For more information on the running of the allotments, please download the guidelines and sign up process

If you are interested in joining an allotment team, please email sustainability@qmul.ac.uk to register your interest. As there is a high demand for the beds, there may be a waiting list.

Medicinal and Sensory Garden for School Groups

Alongside the allotments, there is     a sensory and medicinal garden containing native plants. These were created to provide educational opportunities for local school groups, who can come in and receive lessons on the medical importance of plants from QMUL students. The space also provides a much needed outdoor lunch space for schools visiting QMUL’s Mile End campus.

If you are a school or community group looking to utilise this resource, or a student looking to volunteer assisting or teaching school groups, please email your enquiry to sustainability@qmul.ac.uk.
